DNA binding and cleavage by dinuclear nickel(II) complexes with neutral bidentate ligands and ciprofloxacin

Abstract: Dinuclear nickel(II) complexes of type [Ni 2 (L) 2 (cpf) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ]Á2H 2 O have been synthesized and characterized using spectral, physicochemical, mass spectra and elemental analyses. Antimicrobial efficacy of the compounds has been screened against five different microorganisms. Interestingly, all complexes demonstrated potent in-vitro antibacterial activity against gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, and gram-negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Serratia marcescens, and Escherichia coli b… Show more

“…The N-O bending band appears in the region between 850 and 750 cm -1 . The absorption bands observed at 560-500 and 467-410 cm -1 are attributed to ν(M-N) and ν(M-O), respectively 27 . The ν(M-N) stretching frequency also exhibited in the range of 290-230 cm -1 28 .…”

“…31 The absorption band, observed at 500-560 cm −1 can be attributed to ν(M−N). 32 The ν(M−N) stretching frequency is also expected in the range of 230-290 cm −1 in Far-IR spectra.…”
