Diversity and Bioactivity of Cultivable Animal Fecal Actinobacteria

Abstract: Microbial symbionts play important roles in food digestion and absorption, immunity, pathogens resistance, and health maintaining of their hosts by co-evolution. To provide new sources for discovering new leader compounds of drugs, the diversity and bioactivities of cultivable actinobacteria from animal feces have been studied. 31 species of animal fecal samples were collected from Yunnan Wild Animal Park. The purified cultures of actinobacteria were isolated from these samples by using 5 media. The 16S rRNA g… Show more

“…Contrary, the least occurring enzyme was lipase, galactosidase, glucuronidase and fucosidase. Similar results obtained Jiang et al (2013), who found out, that the tested isolates showed alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase, leucinearylamidase, naphtol-AS-BI-phosphatase, β-glucosidase and α-glucosides activity and none strains showed β-glucuronidase activity. (1) - (0) - (0) In case of Api Coryne ® stripes, positive reaction were confirmed in case of nitrate reduction (strains 13SC2, 13SC19, 13SC10), pyrrolidonylarylamidase (13SC19), α-glucosidase (13SC2, 13SPC10, 13SPC4), β-galactosidase (13SC2, 13SC19) and all strains were positive for production of alkaline phosphatase, urease, esculin and hydrolysis of gelatine.…”

“…Members of this group have adopted different lifestyles such as soil inhabitants, marine dwellers, pathogens, plant and gastro-intestinal commensals 17 . Many species of Actinobacteria have been isolated from animal faeces indicating that these bacteria can adapt and survive in any given condition 18 . They could be mesophilic, psychrophilic, alkalophilic and alkalotolerant 19 .…”

“…The biochemical analysis performed on all six isolates revealed results which were in accordance to that reported for actinomycetes. Jiang et al (2013) reported more than 80% of 233 actinomycete strains isolated from animal feces displayed esterase and leucine arylamidase enzyme activities. Santala et al (2004) reported more than 90% actinomycete strains studied were positive for leucine arylamidase while less than 10% were able to produce β-glucuronidase and α-fucosidase.…”
