Distributions of HLA class I alleles and haplotypes in Northern Han Chinese

Abstract: Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I allelic genotypes were determined in 105 unrelated Han ethnic individuals inhabiting the northern China area. A total of 19 HLA-A alleles, 49 HLA-B alleles and 24 HLA-Cw alleles were detected. Through the analyses of two and three loci haplotypes of HLA-A, HLA-B, and HLA-C loci, 11 HLA-A-B-Cw haplotypes, 19 HLA-A-B haplotypes, 18 HLA-A-Cw haplotypes, and 24 HLA-B-Cw haplotypes with the frequencies of higher than 0.01 were revealed. The Nei's genetic distance (GD) was estim… Show more

“…As such, the Guanzhong Han were in the middle between northern Han and southern Han and had a near genetic relationship with both of these populations. This hypothesis is supported by Y-chromosome and mitochondrial DNA variation analysis in Han populations [31][32][33][34].…”

“…The two-and three-locus haplotype distributions in Cubans, when compared with other world populations, tell us that mulattos, which in part stem from Sub-Saharan Africa, have seven Caucasians haplotypes (A*02-B*44 [25,26], A*33-B*14 [18,19], B*44-Cw*05 [24], A*03-B*35-Cw*04 [11,25], A*02-B*44-Cw*16 [11,25], A*01-B*08-Cw*07 [26], and A*03-B*07-Cw*07 [26]). Similarly, the white population displayed genetic admixture with the African (A*68-B*53 [8,24], B*53-Cw04 [8,27], B*44-Cw*04 [8,11,27], B*49-Cw*07 [8,11,27], and A*68-B*53-Cw*04 [11]), Asian (B*13-Cw*06 [35], B*40-Cw03 [36], B*51-Cw*14 [36]), and Amerindian (B*39-Cw*07 [22], B*27-Cw*02 [20], A*02-B*40-Cw*03 [20], A*02-B*39-Cw*07 [22]) gene pool.…”

“…Many HLA-C population studies presented the typing results with a solution to the 4-digital allele level within the antigen binding domain [23,24], thus the Cw*0701g carrier was not subtyped. According to the frequency data released by NMDP (http://bioinformatics.nmdp.…”
