“…The explanation to this high number of ECP procedures is because we, as do others, have seen an increase in the number of leukocytapheresis performed in non-cytokine-stimulated donors for different cellular therapy protocols during the last years [13][14][15][16] and ECP is a common procedure in the present day. 33,34 5 | CONCLUSIONS Donor's age, preprocedure CBC data as well as central line used as vascular access were factors associated with CE1 of cells when performing leukocytapheresis in nonmobilized donors for cellular therapy purposes. Knowing these characteristics is helpful in the apheresis unit when designing cellular therapy protocols in order to maximize the collection efficiency of the desired cell, to reduce the quantity of the undesired cell population, and to personalize collection variables for each donor.…”

“…Although this patient population could skew the data, our focus was the analysis of preprocedure characteristics that were associated with the CE1 of cells. The explanation to this high number of ECP procedures is because we, as do others, have seen an increase in the number of leukocytapheresis performed in non‐cytokine‐stimulated donors for different cellular therapy protocols during the last years and ECP is a common procedure in the present day …”

“…In general, patients had a high appreciation, the sessions proved to be safe and well-tolerated. Types and rates of side effects of lipid apheresis treatment are described by different authors and in the registry of World Apheresis Association [47][48][49][50] . Heigl et al [51] (2015) studied safety during 6 years and noted good tolerance to different techniques of lipid apheresis.…”

“…ECP was first introduced in 1980s for the treatment of patients with cutaneous T‐cell lymphoma (CTCL) but the indication of ECP for patients with GVHD, solid organ allograft rejection, and immune‐mediated inflammatory diseases continues to increase . In this line, a recent report from the World Apheresis Association (WAA) showed that the percentage of ECP procedures reported to the WAA registry increased from 0.4% in 2005 to 19.6% in 2015 . However, use of ECP remains in a paucity of randomized controlled clinical trials for many clinical indications with most evidence relying on case reports or series, and the ultimate mechanism of action has not yet been elucidated.…”

“…A TA database, which is a repository of patient information and related procedures, serves to increase knowledge about various indications and type of apheresis procedures that are performed in clinical practice. Local, national, and international databases are available in the literature . Moreover, tracking trends of procedure use and information on patient outcomes provide a better understanding of which diseases are amenable to treatment with TA.…”
