Distribution and possibilities of use of thermal and thermo-mineral waters in Macva

Abstract: According to its characteristics the deposit of thermal waters in Mačva is of world significance. The reservoir consists of the karstified Triassic limestone and dolomites where the water temperature of about 100ºC is expected. These phenomena were registered in Dubalj, Bogatić, Mačvanski Pričinović, Belotić, Metković and Klenj. There are real prerequisites for Mačva to become 'the hydro-geothermal region' with intensive exploitation of water. Present assessment shows that geothermal energy from thermal waters… Show more

“…Different sorts of fi sh require different water temperatures, and by regulating it, it is possible to achieve much larger production compared to the traditional. The use of thermal mineral waters in agriculture for the watering of cultures which have high energy demands is in initial stages (Gajić and Vujadinović, 2009) and requires additional research. On the other hand, watering with thermal mineral waters could also have certain unfavorable consequences for the soil owing to the salt and other substances which would be concentrated in the soil.…”

“…Coal clays and thin layers of coal occur in some levels. Sandy-gravelly material is important for the formation of thermal water deposits in the Neogene sediments (Gajić et al, 2009).…”

“…Different types of fish require a different water temperature, the regulation of which produces far higher production than the traditional one. Thus, for example, catfish grows up to commercial weight for 4 to 6 months at a temperature of 18-27°C, while trout requires temperature from 12°C to 18°C (Gajić et al, 2009). By regulating the temperature, faster development of organisms is achieved by 50 to 100%, which also increases the production.…”
