Show more

“…Due to the availability of many other microhabitats at the study site (Fonseca et al, 2017), our study shows a saxicolous habit for Gymnodactylus darwinii population from north-eastern Brazil, highly associated with rocky outcrops. Regarding terrestrial lizards, the use of rocky outcrops could be associated with many functions like good source of thermoregulation (Garda et al, 2013;Pelegrin et al, 2017), to escape and hide from possible predators, to obtain food items (Caruccio et al, 2010;Dias & Rocha, 2004) and to mate and lay eggs (Guedes et al, 2020;Oitaven et al, 2022).…”

“…The ectoparasite Amblyomma rotundatum was the most frequently occurring in north-eastern reptiles, parasitizing 26 distinct species, and was present in the four investigated snake families. Amblyomma has the greatest diversity of species, represented by about 138 of which 32 are recorded in Brazil, and has the greatest range of related hosts (Fonseca et al, 2017;Alcantara et al 2018a). Amblyomma rotundatum is commonly found parasitizing anuran amphibians (such as Rhinella crucifer, Rhinella diptycha, Rhinella granulosa, Rhinella gildae and Rhinella marina) (Santos et al, 2002;Horta et al, 2015;Alcantara et al 2018b).…”
