Disposable Carbon Nanotube Modified Screen‐Printed Biosensor for Amperometric Detection of Organophosphorus Pesticides and Nerve Agents

Abstract: A disposable carbon nanotube-based biosensor was successfully developed and applied to the detection of organophosphorus (OP) pesticides and nerve agents. The biosensors using acetycholinesterase (AChE)/choline oxidase (CHO) enzymes provided a high sensitivity, large linear range, and low detection limits for the analysis of OP compounds. Such characteristics may be attributed to the catalytic activity of carbon nanotube to promote the redox reaction of hydrogen peroxide produced during AChE/CHO enzymatic reac… Show more

“…In case of cholinesterase biosensors it is possible to lower the voltage and interferences of electroactive sample components by means of redox transmitters such as ferophtalocyanine, cobalt phtalocyanine, Prussian blue (ferrihexacyanofferate), 7,7,8, in combination with carbon electrodes, screen electrodes or using the carbon nanotube (CNT) (Arduini et al, 2007;Ciucu et. al., 2003;Hart et al, 1997;Hernandez et al, 2000;Lin et al, 2004;Ricci et al, 2003;Ivanov et al, 2003a;Nunes et al, 2004;Shulga & Kirchhoff, 2007;Skládal, 1992;Skládal & Mascini, 1992;Suprun et al, 2005;Wring et al, 1989) or electrochemical decomposition of the arising peroxide using a gold or platinum amperometric electrode (Yao, 1983). CNTs are commonly used for electrochemical biosensors.…”

“…Various sensor based on bienzymatic approach have been developed for the detection of OP compounds (Ciucu et al, 2003, Ferapontova et al, 2001,Lin et al, 2004, Ferapontova et al, 2001, Kok et al, 2002, Upadhyay et al 2009). The ferrophthalocyanine (FePC) modified carbon paste electrodes are used for the construction of bienzymatic amperometric biosensor which is operated at low potential (0.35 V) for the detection of OP pesticides (Ciucu et al 2003).…”
