Disintegration of microtubules in Arabidopsis thaliana and bladder cancer cells by isothiocyanates

Abstract: Isothiocyanates (ITCs) from biodegradation of glucosinolates comprise a group of electrophiles associated with growth-inhibitory effects in plant- and mammalian cells. The underlying modes of action of this feature are not fully understood. Clarifying this has involved mammalian cancer cells due to ITCs' chemopreventive potential. The binding of ITCs to tubulins has been reported as a mechanism by which ITCs induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. In the present study we demonstrate that ITCs disrupt microtubu… Show more

“…385 This was demonstrated as a successful approach for the diagnosis of primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSjS), a chronic systemic autoimmune disease whose heterogeneity often delays diagnosis. Lipo peptide derived from the human autoantigen lipocalin was displayed on PVX, and the nanoparticle platform was shown to be specific to pSjS patient sera and had greater reactivity than the peptide alone.…”

“…BRs are steroid hormones that play diverse roles in plant growth and responses to external stresses, as well as act in a concert with light signaling pathway principally through PIFs (Lozano-Durán and Zipfel, 2015; Saini et al, 2015). In a study aimed at the identification of components of the light signaling pathway that interact with BZR1, PIF1 and PIF4 were identified as interacting partners of BZR1 (BRASSINAZOLE-RESISTANT 1) (Oh et al, 2012).…”
