Disentangling the causes of protected‐species bycatch in gillnet fisheries

Abstract: Gillnet fisheries are widely thought to pose a conservation threat to many populations of marine mammals, seabirds and turtles. Gillnet fisheries also support a significant proportion of small-scale fishing communities worldwide.
