The highly prevalent bipolar disorder is a condition that causes multiple disabilities and problems in domains such as cognition, getting along, life activities and participation (4,5); taking care of bipolar patients is therefore associated with several difficulties and the caregivers of patients with this chronic disease report a relatively high prevalence of burden (6). The high prevalence of burden in caregivers of patients with bipolar disorder predisposes the caregiver to psychiatric disorders, physical problems, greater use of medical services, reduced social support and greater family conflicts (7)(8)(9)(10).…”
