Among the health priorities of international migrants, non-communicable diseases such as hypertension are of major interest due to their increasing prevalence, mainly in low- and middle-income countries. Previous evidence has reported a significant risk of hypertension in international migrants derived from multiple exposures during the migration process and at the destination, such as living conditions, health literacy and access to preventive services. Also, poorer disease control has been found compared to the local population. Considering existing deficiencies in access and use of healthcare services related to hypertension prevention and continuity of care of migrants globally, we aimed to offer a Latin American perspective of the challenges faced by international migrants residing in Latin America in accessing hypertension preventive care from a human rights, equity, and universal primary healthcare approaches. From a health systems perspective, we conducted a scoping review of scientific literature on hypertension prevention and control among international migrants in Latin America and the Caribbean. Based on the findings, we discuss the potential influence of migration and health policies on healthcare systems and individual and structural barriers to healthcare access, including lack of insurance, linguistic barriers, limited intercultural competence, and geographical and financial barriers. From existing evidence related to hypertension, we highlight the particular healthcare needs of migrants and their implications for regional public health goals. This aligns with promoting culturally tailored interventions considering the migration process, lifestyle patterns, structural vulnerabilities, and gender particularities in hypertension prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. We advocate for developing universal, voluntary, and systemic regional screening and disease control initiatives in Latin America for hypertension and other chronic conditions.

A hipertensão arterial (HA) é uma doença crônica e não transmissível (DCNT), caracterizada por uma elevação sustentada da pressão arterial. O farmacêutico é responsável por corrigir ou reduzir os riscos relacionados com a terapêutica no paciente com hipertensão arterial, solucionando problemas e prevenindo resultados negativos oriundos de um tratamento incorreto, por meio da Atenção Farmacêutica. O objetivo do estudo foi discutir a importância da atenção farmacêutica para promoção do uso racional de medicamentos anti-hipertensivos por pacientes hipertensos. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa de literatura, realizada por meio das bases de dados MEDLINE/PubMed, SciELO e LILACS. A Atenção Farmacêutica consiste em um conjunto de valores éticos, habilidades, comportamentos e compromissos ligados a prevenção de doenças, promoção e recuperação da saúde, de modo integrado à equipe de saúde, de modo que o farmacêutico atua na linha de frente, como principal agente responsável pelo monitoramento da farmacoterapia antihipertensiva e controle da PA, contribuindo na melhora da qualidade de vida do paciente. O farmacêutico como agente da saúde, torna-se fundamental para promoção de maior efetividade com relação as medidas terapêuticas, assegurando que os pacientes utilizem o medicamento de modo seguro, eficaz e benéfico ao seu organismo.

Diseases of the heart and blood vessels, known as cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), are one of the leading causes of death worldwide [11]. CVDs encompass a set of conditions that affect both the heart and blood vessels and include coronary heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral arterial disease, rheumatic heart disease, congenital heart anomalies, deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Moringa oleifera belongs to the Moringaceae family, popularly known as white lily, white acacia or quince okra, it has high levels of beta-carotene and polyphenols and is used to prevent diseases such as atherosclerosis, in addition to being used to strengthen the Cardiovascular system. This integrative literature review aimed to seek and present current evidence about the pharmacological potential of Moringa oleifera lamarck on cardiovascular diseases, explaining the main pharmacological findings. 5,284 articles were found where, through the inclusion criteria, only 10 fit within the study. The referenced studies were carried out with the aim of describing the therapeutic potential of Moringa oleifera lamarck (MO) on cardiovascular diseases. Due to its therapeutic potential, the interest of dietary supplementation with Moringa oleifera seeds for middle-aged or elderly people is suggested, aiming to limit aging-related endothelial dysfunction and prevent the development of cardiovascular diseases, being particularly relevant in countries that may have limited access to pharmacological treatments, as a non-drug means for healthy aging. According to studies, Moringa oleifera seed has a beneficial role against functional and structural cardiac remodeling induced by hypertension, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, beneficial action on endothelial function and other cardiac complications.
