The purpose of this work was the conceptual elaboration of a proposed zoning based on the concepts of recovery, rehabilitation, and restoration, for the Ipojuca watershed, located in the state of Pernambuco, in the north-eastern region of Brazil. It also sought to bring together a set of technical and normative instruments capable of being articulated in environmental policies that have river restoration as the main exponent of ecological and sustainability criteria. Data from the MapBiomas project, which aims to map the annual land cover and use in Brazil, and rainfall data from the stations located in the study area, were used as a basis for the zoning. From the combination of these databases, three sectors with similar characteristics were established, which served as the basis for the zoning. The overlap shown in these data confirmed the influence of the rainfall pattern on the characteristics of the land cover and pattern of use in each sector, where agricultural activities and urbanisation have played a decisive role in the degradation of water bodies and their bordering environments along the watershed.

A destinação inadequada de resíduos industriais gera riscos de contaminação do solo e das águas subterrâneas, podendo desencadear danos ambientais materiais e imateriais significativos, muitos deles sem possibilidades de reversão. Com base na Portaria nº 280, de 29 de junho de 2020, o Poder Público estabelece o controle do transporte e destinação de resíduos mediante o envio de formulários por parte dos geradores e dos destinadores desses materiais aos órgãos de controle ambiental. O uso da inteligência artificial (IA) pode, nessa perspectiva, ser avaliado como uma ferramenta a ser utilizada na otimização da gestão dessas informações por parte da administração pública, ao buscar identificar cenários de alerta que possam configurar, em algum momento, um crime ambiental. Esta pesquisa tem por objetivo avaliar a real contribuição da utilização de aplicações da inteligência artificial, por parte dos órgãos ambientais, no sentido de melhorar o controle da movimentação e da destinação dos resíduos industriais. A abordagem metodológica utilizada foi o levantamento bibliográfico e a pesquisa legislativa. Como resultado, demonstrou-se a significância do uso da inteligência artificial pelos órgãos ambientais no intuito de reforçar o controle social formal do Estado, a fim de evitar os crimes ambientais decorrentes de situações inapropriadas envolvendo a movimentação e a destinação de resíduos industriais.

Objective: The aim of the essay is to discuss the agrarian issue in Brazil, articulating it in the mainstream of sustainable development, as an opportunity to democratize access and use of land, and especially to inhibit chronic problems that generate opulence and deprivation of freedoms, such as those emphasized by the COVID-19 crisis. Theoretical framework: It is based on the perspectives of two renowned researchers, Navarro and Medeiros. While Navarro questions the options for agrarian reform in democratic contexts, emphasizing the business perspective, Medeiros highlights the evolution of the agrarian issue, addressing struggles for land and cultural identity. Method: This essay is characterized by its qualitative nature, according to the methodology of content analysis in the style of a theoretical essay, and is focused on the debate on agrarian reform, based on two renowned researchers: Navarro (2014) and Medeiros (2015). Result and conclusion: It is concluded that abuses of power to invade the lands of citizens who have rightfully earned that space are crimes, given that the discussion suggests that they should be resolved by Brazilian land reform, so the judgment is positive related to the total relevance of land reform. Originality/value: The originality of this essay lies in the critical analysis of the perspectives of Navarro and Medeiros, contextualized in the post-COVID-19 crisis. The innovative approach underscores agrarian reform as a relevant solution to urgent social issues, adding value to the academic debate on sustainable development in Brazil.
