This study aims to determine the role of women in the management of mask waste in Indonesia in the era of the covid 19 pandemic. This is considering that in the era of the covid 19 pandemic the amount of mask waste as medical waste is increasing every day. Mask waste if not managed properly will pose a potential hazard to health and the environment. Lack of control over the disposal of mask waste leads to increased environmental damage. In such conditions, the existence of women cannot be underestimated. Women have many roles in influencing public policy, either directly or indirectly. This research method is descriptive with normative juridical research, using a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The results showed that the implementation of the mask waste management regulation did not go well. The government as a policy maker must produce policies that directly touch the needs and justice in the community. Based on this, women are considered to have a strategic role in the family and are considered capable of having a dual role in increasing family awareness as a small part of society towards preventing environmental damage. Through this study, the author is of the view that optimizing the role of women can help the government in suppressing environmental damage due to mask waste in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. Bumi Lestari Maluku Waste Bank (BLM) is a pilot waste bank in Ambon city with some problems such as the lack of knowledge in managing managerial and administrative functions, the lack of networks for selling collected waste, and the lack of product innovations in waste management. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga DPPU Pattimura conducts community empowerment for the BLM Waste Bank through a CSR program to create team with structured managerial and administrative functions, understand the eligible and on-demand products, and make eco-enzyme. The method of this empowerment project used socialization and joint practice. The empowerment results are an improvement in managerial and administrative functions; an increase in knowledge and skills of packaging; implementation of a circular economy through networking with industry; production of eco-enzyme. The conclusion is that the community empowerment project on BLM Waste Bank has provided knowledge and skills in managerial, administrative, and marketing aspects; and developed eco-enzyme products. Abstrak Bank Sampah Bumi Lestari Maluku (BLM) merupakan salah satu Bank Sampah percontohan di kota Ambon namun memiliki permasalahan seperti kurangnya pengetahuan pengurus terkait fungsi manajerial dan adminitratif, kurangnya jejaring dalam menjual sampah, dan kurangnya inovasi produk. PT Pertamina Patra Niaga DPPU Pattimura menjalankan kegiatan pemberdayaan masyarakat kepada Kelompok Bank Sampah BLM sebagai salah satu bentuk program CSR untuk membangun tim dalam fungsi manajerial dan administratif yang terstruktur, memberikan pemahaman terkait pengemasan produk yang layak dan diminati di pasaran, dan membuat inovasi eco-enzym. Metode yang digunakan adalah sosialisasi dan praktik bersama. Hasil pemberdayaan ini adalah adanya peningkatan fungsi manajerial dan administratif; peningkatan pengemasan produk; adanya penerapan dari ekonomi sirkular melalui jejaring industri; dan adanya produksi eco-enzym. Kesimpulan dari pemberdayaan masyarakat yang dilakukan pada kelompok Bank Sampah BLM telah memberikan pengetahuan dan meningkatkan kemampuan pengurus dalam fungsi manajerial, administratif, dan pemasaran (ekonomi sirkuler), serta dapat mengembangkan inovasi produk eco-enzym.

It is widely stated in the literature that the worldwide use of material resources is rising in tandem with population growth. In proportion to the rise in human population, it is anticipated that the amount of waste will increase as well. Therefore, those environmental issues that pose a growing threat to life and ecosystems must be addressed. As stated in the literature, by implementing a circular economy, for example, the amount of unprocessed trash generated at the household level can be effectively managed. The concept of a circular economy provides a solution to the problem of community waste by creating new products from waste resources that have economic value. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to identify obstacles to achieving sustainable development with a circular economy system in terms of household waste management in the Rawa Pitu district, Lampung province on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. The study is qualitative in nature, with data analysis techniques including interviews, observations, and questionnaires, with a total of 104 participants. The data analysis included data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawings. The findings indicate that in the Rawa Pitu district, it has not been possible to maximize public participation in addressing waste management issues. This is due to the fact that there has been no action taken by the local government regarding the management of household waste, and there has been no shift in the community's approach to waste management. For this, we need an alternative solution in the form of a circular economy by implementing the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). Consequently, the involvement of stakeholders in shaping community participation in achieving sustainable development is crucial, and there is a need for continuous oversight. As well as discussing the implications of the findings, we offer several suggestions for additional studies.
