Digitale Vollfeldmammographie: Dosisabhängige Detektion von simulierten Herdbefunden und Mikrokalzifikationen

Abstract: The results suggest that FFDM is at least equivalent to or--as far as spot views are concerned--superior to conventional SFM concerning the detectability of simulated lesions. Thus, a potential of dose reduction is suggested.

“…In digital mammography, various approaches have been taken to investigate optimized mammographic technique ͑primarily the choice of beam source target/filter and kVp͒ for different breast thicknesses and compositions. These include Monte Carlo simulations, 16,[24][25][26] experimental studies using objective image quality metrics, 2,8,14,21,25,27,28 taskbased observer evaluations using anthropomorphic and other phantoms with relevant simulated features, 16,17,19,[29][30][31] and even retrospective or prospective clinical mammography studies employing large patient populations. 23 Monte Carlo studies have been particularly useful in permitting practical comparative evaluation of the existing and proposed target/ filter combinations for imaging breasts of various thicknesses and densities without requiring an unduly burdensome number of experimental studies.…”

“…A 25% reduction of the radiation dose led to equivalent results in the detection of microcalcifications on CDMAM phantom compared to film-screen mammography. On the other hand, the detection threshold of the digital system increased in a range of 10-25% when an equivalent dose level was used [10,11].…”
