Educational institutions regardless of context have been compelled to embed blended teaching as one of the orthodox instructional modes. The precursor for successful implementation of blended teaching is insight into current teacher competence with blended teaching and enhancement measures needed. This paper examines the perception of teachers on the current status of blended teaching competence and the relationship between participation in professional learning communities and blended teaching competence enhancement among high school teachers in Vietnam. The data comprised high school teachers’ impressions of blended teaching in high schools, collected through survey questionnaires. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics and Pearson Correlation. Findings reveal that teachers perceive the current status of blended teaching competence for high school teachers in Vietnam as moderate. Findings also unveil a very low positive but statistically significant relationship between participation in professional learning communities and blended teaching competence enhancement. This meaningful relationship serves as the foundation for broadening this study’s scope to include the investigation of establishing a professional learning community that meets the needs of teachers in blended teaching competence enhancement. This research initiates to help instructors raise awareness about the significance of blended teaching in the context of today's digital change in education. The suggestions are supplied to stakeholders as a valuable option for implementing and assisting teachers in developing blended teaching competence.

Advancements in technology and the Internet characterize the current English teaching and learning scenario. In this trend, the issue of blending face-to-face and online learning into English learning and teaching has drawn significant attention from teachers, researchers, and educators worldwide, including Vietnam, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic. Although this mode has been applied widely and shown its noticeable benefits, there have been relatively few studies regarding the perceptions of English lecturers at the tertiary level in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) context. Therefore, the objectives of this research are to (1) critically review knowledge of blended learning (BL); (2) investigate the tertiary level English lecturers’ perceptions of the BL model implementation in a college in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; (3) provide some practical recommendations for future research and implementations. Online questionnaires and interviews with 14 English lecturers in the Summer 2023 semester were used to collect qualitative and quantitative data. At the end of the paper, EFL lecturers’ perceptions were revealed. Several educational implications and practical recommendations were suggested as well. The research findings are expected to contribute to a complete picture of BL in higher education in Vietnam.

Chuyển đổi số giúp các trường đại học thay đổi các hoạt động dạy – học, nghiên cứu và vận hành truyền thống với các cách thức đổi mới, sáng tạo và tiết kiệm chi phí hơn. Trên thế giới, các trường đại học đều cố gắng xây dựng và phát triển chiến lược và các hoạt động chuyển đổi số để tìm ra một mô hình phù hợp nhất với từng đơn vị. Nghiên cứu này hệ thống tổng quan tài liệu để cung cấp những thông tin tổng hợp về hoạt động chuyển đổi số trong giáo dục đại học. Nghiên cứu sử dụng các cơ sở dữ liệu như Web of Science (WoS), Google Scholar, Research Gate, ScienceDirect để tiếp cận các bài báo về chuyển đổi số trong giáo dục đại học. Các bài báo được lựa chọn để nghiên cứu tổng quan phải đáp ứng các tiêu chí: có nội dung về chuyển đổi số trong giáo dục đại học, viết bằng tiếng Anh và có thể tiếp cận toàn văn. Tổng cộng có 24 bài báo được sử dụng để nghiên cứu tổng quan. Dựa vào các kết quả của nghiên cứu tổng quan này, nghiên cứu thực nghiệm trong tương lai có thể xác định và đánh giá các yếu tố ảnh hưởng đến công tác triển khai hoạt động chuyển đổi số trong giáo dục đại học.
