The ubiquity of mobile devices together with its potential to bridge classroom learning to real-world has added a new angle to contextualising mathematics learning. This study investigated the effects of using mobile technologies to students' attitudes and achievement. A quasi-experimental mixed method design was adopted. Participants were 52 Primary 6 and 7 students. The experimental group participated in a weekly mobilesupported, collaborative learning activities spanning over three months. A no treatment control group was adopted. The experimental group have positive perception of the activities evidenced by student interviews and end activity evaluations. Students' attitude to mathematics, as assessed by a mathematics attitude inventory, found no significant change for both groups except for the significant decline in enjoyment for the control group. A t test of the gain score between group showed a significant difference, t(43) = 4.57, p = 0.005, ES = 0.89 which indicates that the experimental group had higher gains than the control group. These results indicate that the use of mobile technologies elicit positive responses from students both in terms of how they perceive the mobile activities and how it improved their performance but its' effect on students attitudes towards mathematics will need to be further investigated. Some implications of the findings are discussed.

A leitura do livro constitui um mergulho na alma do profissional que, comprometido com a Educação, é capaz de desenhar seu amanhã no contexto escolar e no dia a dia empenha-se em construí-lo.Assim é que, nos textos aqui apresentados, não há propostas de mudanças estruturais e radicais que, sob nossa ótica, se fazem tão necessárias à escola do século XXI. Mas seus autores, dentro dos limites e possibilidades dos tempos e dos espaços institucionais de agora, expõem, com a ousadia necessária frente aos desafios da contemporaneidade e com a seriedade (imprescindível a todo professor-pesquisador), seu envolvimento com o ato de ensinar/aprender vinculado à informática, trazendo para si a responsabilidade de desvendar meios de produzir alterações significativas e relevantes no interior das escolas.Cada texto é um convite ao diálogo e, como tal, nos permite invadir não só o universo pedagógico dos autores, como também acreditar na possibilidade concreta de o professor inventar, reinventar, criar com responsabilidade outras metodologias a serem utilizadas no cotidiano educativo. Abstract-The term "students with special needs", "disabled" or "impaired students" is used to describe some students who have real, persistent, and substantial individual differences and educational needs that regular education has been unable to accommodate. These individual differences vary, from medical conditions such as cerebral palsy, to dyslexia, to pervasive and chronic maladaptive patterns of behaviour. These same students will and should not be considered disabled or impaired once they leave school. Nonetheless, their specialized learning needs are intense and legitimate because students with learning disabilities have significant difficulty acquiring and retaining math and other skills. ICTS are here to play an important role, offering the educators a valuable set of tools to cope with these difficulties. A number of factors are significant to the poor math performance of these students. In this review article we discuss these factors, the contribution of ICTS and make recommendations for a better math performance.
