The magnetic pre-sheath (MPS) width, L MPS, is a critical parameter to define the sheath potential, which controls the ion trajectory of low-Z species (D, T, He, and C), as well as the prompt re-deposition of high-Z species. To determine L MPS, we fabricated micro-trenches (30×30×4 µm) via focused ion beam (FIB) milling on a silicon surface and exposed them to L-mode deuterium plasmas in DIII-D via the Divertor Material Evaluation System (DiMES) removable sample exposure probe. The areal distribution of impurity depositions, mainly consisting of carbon, was measured by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) to reveal the deuterium ion shadowing effect on the trench floors. The carbon deposition profiles showed that the erosion was maximized for the azimuthal direction of φ = -40° (referenced to the toroidal magnetic field direction) as well as the polar angle of θ = 80°. A Monte Carlo equation-of-motion model, based on a collisionless MPS, was used to calculate the azimuthal and polar deuterium ion angle distributions (IADs) for a range of L MPS = k × ρ i, where ρ i is the ion gyro radius and k = 0.5-4. Then, gross erosion profiles were calculated by a Monte Carlo micro-patterning and roughness (MPR) code for ion sputtering using as input the calculated azimuthal and polar IADs for each value of k. Good agreement with the experimental C deposition profiles was obtained for the case k = 2.5-3.5. This result is consistent with a previous kinetic modeling prediction of k ~ 3, as well as previous analytical investigations that predicted the L MPS to be several ion gyro radii. A validation of theoretical sheath models supports its applicability to ITER and pilot plant divertors to successfully predict plasma-materials interactions.

: Ledakan teknologi komunikasi dan maklumat pada hari ini membuka platform kepada golongan muda terutama pengundi muda (Undi18) untuk mendapat akses maklumat politik. Hal ini mendorong kepada pelaksanaan polisi penurunan had umur mengundi daripada 21 tahun kepada 18 tahun di Malaysia. Objektif kajian ini untuk mengkaji tahap kemahiran literasi media dan tahap kesediaan penyertaan politik dalam kalangan pengundi muda di Malaysia. Kaedah survei digunakan ke atas 547 responden dalam kalangan pengundi muda (18-26 tahun) di Malaysia. Soal selidik telah melalui proses kesahan pakar dan kesahan bersemuka yang menjadikan nilai Alpha Cronbach bagi setiap item adalah melebihi 0.07 yang membawa maksud mempunyai aras kesahan yang baik. Pekali alfa untuk semua item ialah 0.95. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan tahap kemahiran literasi media dalam kalangan pengundi muda adalah sederhana (min=3.93) dan tahap kesediaan penyertaan politik dalam kalangan pengundi muda adalah rendah (min=2.56). Namun, responden dilaporkan mempunyai tahap pengetahuan politik yang tinggi dan menjadikan media sosial merupakan platform popular untuk mendapatkan maklumat politik. Kajian ini melaporkan ibu bapa, sekolah serta media sosial merupakan agen yang mempengaruhi minat politik. Kajian ini membawa implikasi sosial bahawa Kerajaan perlu mempergiat kempen kemahiran literasi media di peringkat sekolah hingga ke Institusi Pengajian Tinggi. Kepentingan kemahiran literasi media meningkatkan tahap kesediaan penyertaan politik dalam kalangan pengundi muda. Kajian ini turut membantu negara mencapai matlamat dasar Wawasan Kemakmuran Bersama 2030 di bawah Teras 5, iaitu Transformasi Modal Insan melalui Program Pembangunan Literasi Media dan Politik bagi melahirkan pemimpin berintegriti dalam kalangan golongan muda.

Pandemi Covid-19 yang telah berlangsung selama dua tahun membuat masyarakat harus terus beradaptasi dengan situasi yang tidak pasti. Kebijakan Pemerintah mengenai pembatasan sosial dan protokol kesehatan mulai berubah dari ketat menjadi lebih longgar. Kondisi ini secara tidak langsung mempengaruhi aspek kesehatan dan aspek ekonomi. Aspek utama yang terpengaruh pandemi adalah perihal kesehatan, masyarakat dituntut menjaga imunitas dan stamina, supaya tidak mudah tertular penyakit. Aspek kedua yang terpengaruh pandemi adalah aspek ekonomi, perekonomian pada tahun 2020 anjlok. Tujuan kegiatan pengabdian ini untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat dalam penerapan pola makan yang sehat. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah: membuat video tutorial sebagai sarana sosialisasi dan edukasi promosi kesehatan via Youtube. Penggunaan media sosial diharapkan dapat menarik minat masyarakat.
