Purpose The purpose of this paper is to conduct a retrospective bibliometric analysis of documents about digital humanities, an emerging but interdisciplinary movement. It examines the distribution of research outputs and languages, identifies the active journals and institutions, dissects the network of categories and cited references, and interprets the hot research topics. Design/methodology/approach The source data are derived from the Web of Science (WoS) core collection. To reveal the holistic landscape of this field, VOSviewer and CiteSpace as popular visualization tools are employed to process the bibliographic data including author, category, reference, and keyword. Furthermore, the parameter design of the visualization tools follows the general procedures and methods for bibliometric analysis. Findings There is an obviously rapid growth in digital humanities research. English is still the leading academic language in this field. The most influential authors all come from or have scientific relationships with Europe and North America, and two leading countries of which are the UK and USA. Digital humanities is the result of a dynamic dialogue between humanistic exploration and digital means. This research field is closely associated with history, literary and cultural heritage, and information and library science. Research limitations/implications This analysis relies on the metadata information extracted from the WoS database; however, some valuable literatures in the field of digital humanities may not be retrieved from the database owing to the inherent challenge of topic search. This study is also restricted by the scope of publications, the limitation regarding the source of data is that WoS database may have underrepresented publications in this domain. Originality/value The output of this paper could be a valuable reference for researchers and practitioners interesting in the knowledge domain of digital humanities. Moreover, the conclusions of this retrospective analysis can be deemed as the comparable foundation for future study.

El presente artículo consiste en un estudio del acceso abierto en un corpus de revistas de Humanidades Digitales seleccionado bajo unos estrictos criterios. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es proporcionar una imagen fidedigna de la publicación periódica en Humanidades Digitales, centrado sobre todo en el nivel de apertura de sus publicaciones y en su relación con otras dimensiones, como la procedencia de la revista, el tipo de editorial, lenguas de publicación, etc. y listando otras características como visibilidad de las publicaciones (DOAJ, SHERPA/RoMEO, y SCOPUS), años en activo de la publicación, cargos de publicación y periodo de embargo. El estudio llevado a cabo sobre un corpus de 38 revistas seleccionadas de la disciplina revela que las revistas de Humanidades Digitales se inclinan mayoritariamente por el acceso libre a mayor nivel. Únicamente una de ellas no permite ningún tipo de acceso abierto, mientras que 7 de ellas son híbridas (vía verde si los autores no pagan, vía dorada si pagan cargos), una es de acceso dorado y las 29 restantes son de acceso diamante. Es decir, el 76,3% de las revistas del corpus son de acceso abierto platino o diamante, sin coste para autores ni lectores, y en el que los costes de publicación se abordan con ayudas, software libre, trabajo voluntario, etc. Este estudio quiere visualizar la posición de las publicaciones del ámbito de las Humanidades Digitales en una época en que la Ciencia Abierta está revolucionando el paradigma de la comunicación científica.

Digital humaniora utmanar biblioteket 1 IntroduktionDigitalisering av källmaterial och arbetssätt har inneburit nya möjligheter och utmaningar för alla delar av samhället, och inte minst i akademiska sammanhang. Resurser som tidigare enbart funnits tillgängliga i pappersform blir i allt högre utsträckning fritt tillgängliga på Internet, långt utanför bibliotekens väggar, och i format som kan läsas och tolkas av datorprogram och algoritmer. ProblemformuleringFör nio år sedan beskrevs digital humaniora (DH) som "the next big thing" och begreppet har senare liknats vid en allegori för framtidens humaniora (Liu, 2012). Idag möter vi som biblioteksanställda begreppet i interaktionen med såväl forskning som utbildning. Och arbetet med att förstå de utmaningar och möjligheter som DH innebär för biblioteket har fortlöpt parallellt i initiativ med olika perspektiv på Linköpings universitetsbibliotek (LiUB) och på Uppsala universitetsbibliotek (UUB).Syftet med den här artikeln är att ge en intressant och nyanserad bild av de utmaningar och möjligheter vi ser framför oss. Och vi har sökt erfarenheter från kollegor i Norden och i andra delar av världen för att svara till frågeställningarna:• Hur kan vi som bibliotek förhålla oss till begreppet DH?• Hur kan vi stötta forskning och utbildning med inslag av DH? Linköpings universitetsbibliotek (LiUB)LiUB består av tre campusbibliotek förlagda till Linköping och Norrköping, samt Byggmästare John Matssons bibliotek vilket är förlagt till Lidingö i Stockholm. Det senare biblioteket ingår inte här.
