Dificuldades vivenciadas pelo cuidador informal e suas habilidades de enfrentamento no cotidiano de cuidar do idoso com doença de Alzheimer

Abstract

Objetivo: conhecer as dificuldades vivenciadas pelo cuidador no cotidiano de cuidar do idoso com doença de Alzheimer. Metodologia: estudo com característica exploratória realizada por meio de uma revisão integrativa de literatura, utilizou-se os descritores doença de alzheimer, saúde do idoso e cuidadores combinados. Resultados: verificou-se inicialmente na base de dados PUBMED, LILACS, SCIELO e MEDLINE 1.565 publicações e ao inserir os anos de publicação evidenciou-se 111 trabalhos. Dos artigos encontrados, após análise de elegibilidade foram selecionados 11 artigos para a elaboração deste revisão. Conclusão: as dificuldades relacionam-se a manter a comunicação, alterações de memória, agressividade e atividades de vida diária. É necessário que os cuidadores conheçam a doença para compreender o paciente e, consequentemente, as possibilidades de atuação (seguras e eficazes) a esse paciente. Isso é possível por meio da educação continuada e implementação de programas psicoeducativos capazes de fornecer informações e orientações práticas para melhorar a assistência oferecida por cuidadores aos pacientes com doença de Alzheimer.

Becoming a caregiver for an older adult involves meeting needs, whether functional or cognitive [12][13][14] .…”

“…Studies affirm that most of the time, caregivers of bedridden older adults perform their caregiving role in isolation, where they and the older adult remain confined to the home environment, reducing their leisure and relaxation time, thus contributing to increased distress and stress. Family members and friends are usually present at the beginning of the process, but over time, they tend to drift away, leaving the caregiver feeling alone 13,[16][17][18][19] .…”

“…Research indicates that a lack of knowledge about caregiving is one of the main difficulties faced by caregivers and that a well-informed caregiver appears to be more skilled, with less chance of developing anxiety and depression 13,18,22,25 . The "Practical Caregiver Guide" asserts that the distribution of information assists and prepares the caregiver in their daily life and in the changes that each disease may bring.…”
