Diffused transmission of laser beam and image processing tools for alpha-particle track-etch dosimetry in PM-355 SSNTDs

Abstract: The present study introduces an optical as well as image processing method that is effective in the study of PM-355 solid state nuclear track detector (SSNTDs) irradiated with α-particles at different times. Laser light with Gaussian extent and 635 nm wavelength is used to accomplish this goal. An imaging processing technique is utilized for the study of the nature and characteristics of a transmitted laser beam through PM-355 SSNTDs. Semi-empirical formulas are obtained which can be used as guide lines to cal… Show more

“…Environmental background radiation must be precisely assessed to identify exposures related to the emission of radioactivity from the nuclear site; the amount of environmental radiation must be evaluated to appropriately quantify population exposure. Many researchers have studied this subject to better understand the environmental radiation contamination in soil, water, air, salt, and food to safeguard the environment from the hazards of radiation exposure to people (Abualhail, Abbas, & Alsalihi, 2017;Alfahed, Imran, Majeed, & Badran, 2020;Alsalihi & Abualhiall, 2019;Bdran, Abul-Hail, & Obeed, 2020;Hail & Talib, 2020;Mollah, Husain, & Rahman, 1986;Rejah, Oraibi, & Al-Salihi, 2020;Salman, Al-Ahmad, Badran, & Emshary, 2015). The current study was conducted out in several areas of Babil Governorate, employing TL-dosimetry to conduct a radiation survey of 10 locations.…”

“…SSNTDs are frequently used in the fields of radiation protection and environmental radiation monitoring. SSNTDs were found a few years ago; Salman et al (2015) explained the fundamental principles, while (Parks, 2005) offered a thorough explanation. The specifics of alpha particle detection were reported by Nikezic (Tu, et al, 2010).…”

“…In the disciplines of radiation protection and environmental radiation monitoring, SSNTDs are commonly employed. The idea of SSNTDs was discovered some years ago; Salman et al (2015) described the basic concepts, while Durrani et al (Parks 2005) provided a comprehensive explanation. Nikezic (Kha et al 2010) published on the specifics of alpha particle detection.…”
