“…Low-grade malignant tumors have a generally benign appearance, but microcysts or irregular cystic spaces, hemorrhagic or necrosis are occasionally observed on CT and MR images. High-grade malignant tumors show poorly delated margin, invasion to adjacent structure (nasal cavity, maxillary sinuses) and perineural spread (5). In MR imaging of the MCXPA presented here, the lesion appeared as a lobulated, heterogeneous enhancing mass with internal fluid-hemorrhage level and a necrotic portion, suggesting a malignant tumor.…”

“…Myoepithelial carcinoma ex pleomorphic adenoma (MCXPA), defined as MC with malignant transformation in a pleomorphic adenoma, is extremely rare. Recently, there have been several reports of CT or MRI findings for tumors of the palate (4,5). However, so far no reports have been made regarding the MRI features of the MCXPA arising at the palate.…”

“…However, in addition to visual inspection, the diagnosis of oral SGTs depends on histopathological examination. Although some approaches have been proposed as an aid to detect SGTs, disadvantages exist in the diagnosis, such as low resolution and invasive [3,8,47].…”

“…To assist the clinician and improve accuracy, some auxiliary diagnostic methods, such as fluorescence [6], ultrasonography [7], and magnetic resonance imaging [8], have been studied in the oral cavity. However, they exist some limitations, such as resolution, imaging contrast, or portability.…”

“…Benign salivary gland neoplasms are most common than malignant . On the other hand, the clinical appearance of malignant and benignant salivary gland neoplasms is very similar, specifically in the hard palate . It is necessary to highlight that MSGT presents different phenotypic characteristics and various clinical outcomes .…”
