Differentially fed, dual‐band filtering antenna with H‐shaped slot

Abstract: A differentially fed, dual‐band microstrip patch antenna with filtering response is proposed in this letter. By etching an H‐shaped slot at a rectangle radiating patch, two resonant modes of the patch antenna, as well as an additional radiation null between the two operation bands are generated. Besides, two symmetric open‐stub coupling feedlines (OSCFs) are introduced to differentially excite the antenna, which offer two extra radiation nulls outside the two bands. Thus, a dual‐band bandpass filtering respons… Show more

“…In Reference 1, a new and innovative optical transparent antenna is designed for wireless MIMO application. However, the total dimension of the MIMO antenna is rather large (105 × 105 mm 2 ) and the isolation level in the low band is only 10 dB because it does not apply any isolation technique. The antenna design in Reference 2 presents a differentially fed, dual-band microstrip patch antenna with filtering response and a large dimension of 64.5 × 60 mm 2 , whereas the antenna in Reference 3 with meandered line radiators resonates at a single frequency band of 5.8 GHz and has a dimension of 38 × 38 mm 2 .…”

“…The main challenge in MIMO antennas is to achieve high isolation between antenna elements by adopting various techniques in a restricted space. With the view of above, several MIMO antennas with different isolating structures to attain an acceptable isolation for various applications have been reported in Reference 1‐10. In Reference 1, a new and innovative optical transparent antenna is designed for wireless MIMO application.…”

“…Furthermore, for the dual‐band antenna with low frequency ratio, two operating bands can share a radiation null between them to simply the framework. By etching H‐shaped slot at a rectangle patch and adding two symmetric open‐stubs 13 , three radiation nulls are introduced outside the two bands. The feeding scheme, ring slots, and shorting pins are added in the dielectric resonator antenna 14 to achieve radiation nulls.…”
