Differential Speed Rolling to Reduce Warping in Bimetallic Slab

Abstract: The mismatch of lengthwise elongation due to the difference of deformation resistances between constituent materials of bimetallic slab can cause warping. As the warping of bimetallic slab can lead to poor product shape with reduced productivity, this study focuses on the effect of differential speed rolling on the reduction of warping. The effects of differential speed rolling on the reduction of curvature are mainly performed by FEM based on fundamental processing parameters. Differential speed rolling exper… Show more

“…The facilitation of forming with the effect of temperature and the reduction of post-forming stresses led to this situation. Similarly, Lee et al (2014) stated that the increase in velocity ratio decreases the radius of curvature. Plastic deformation has a significant effect on both hardness distribution and internal microstructure homogeneity (Faraji et al, 2012).…”

“…Hwang and Tzou [16] have studied an analytical approach to asymmetrical cold-and hot-rolling of clad sheets using the slab method. Lee et al [17], analyzed the diferential speed rolling to reduce warping in the bimetallic slab. Zhu et al [18] have discussed the experimental identifcation of warpage origination during the wafer-level packaging process.…”

“…Numerous studies have been performed to investigate the effects of the rolling bonding parameters such as the reduction ratio, rolling temperature, rolling pattern, surface roughness, and annealing treatment after rolling, on the LMCs' microstructure near the interface and the mechanical properties. To investigate the effect of surface roughness on the bonding strength, brushes with various diameters or wire diameters were used in the scratching brushing stage .…”
