Abstract: The current study results suggest that SBP, MAP, and PP are all associated with asymptomatic ICAS. PP may be the most sensitive index to predict ICAS.

“…27 The Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT) subgroup analysis also suggested that lower DBP is not related to the first episode of stroke risk in the high-risk population. 28 Second, the DBP in this population was relatively lower than that in the previous study, 14…”

“…IS patients, diagnosed according to the International Classification of Disease (9th revision, codes 430 to 438) on the basis of history, clinical symptoms, physical examination, and cranial computed tomography (CT) or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) [ 31 ], were included in this study. CAS was diagnosed based on the level of the vessel stenosis according to the established criteria [ 30 , 32 ]. The age- and sex-matched controls were defined as no history of CAS and stroke and no family history of stroke.…”

“…A number of studies indicate that hypertension, even pre-hypertension, is associated with a high prevalence of both asymptomatic and symptomatic ICAS. 54 , 55 , 56 , 57 , 58 , 59 , 60 However, relevant studies on blood pressure management in ICAS are limited. Although some trials, such as WASID and SAMMPRIS, suggest that blood pressure control is safe and beneficial in patients with ICAS, there is research indicating that over dose of hypotensive drugs increases the risk of stroke in patients with MCA stenosis.…”
