“…In fact, Muzaffer et al, Hiraki et al, Yalaoui et al and Taddio et al found frequencies of 100%, 100%, 100% and 96% respectively [9,10,13,15]. These results confirm the importance of the detection of ANA despite their low specificity in pediatric SLE [29]. Anti-dsDNA and anti-Sm antibodies are more specific for SLE.…”

“…3 These symptoms developed only at 13 years of age, 5 months after menarche suggested the role of hormone in the pathogenesis of this disease. Though along with these features, in early age onset SLE, others features such as renal involvement including proteinuria (>500 mg/day), cellular cast, thrombocytopenia, hemolytic anaemia, lymphadenopathy are common 4 , we did not find any other involvement except mild proteinuria that did not fulfill the criteria for diagnosing SLE. The presence of strongly positive anti snRNP may play a role for that in this case as this antibody has been associated with mild renal involvement and a lower prevalence of Raynaud's phenomenon though no history of Raynaud's phenomenon were given.…”

“…S ystemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multisystem autoimmune disease related to an insuffi ciency in the clearance of cellular materials after apoptosis (1)(2)(3)(4). A recent study suggested that the higher chemokine/cytokine activity during pregnancy in SLE patients increases pregnancyrelated complications and disease fl ares, despite a similar pattern of chemokine/cytokine fl uctuations in healthy pregnant women (5).…”
