Diethyl 2-Benzimidazol-1-ylsuccinate–Picric Acid (1/1) – An Inclusion Molecular Complex

Abstract: The crystal structure of the diethyl 2-benzimidazol-1ylsuccinate-picric acid (1 / 1) molecular complex has been determined by X-ray diffraction analysis. Diethyl 2benzimidazol-l-ylsuccinate molecules form channels along the a axis, in which the picric acid molecules are located. The benzimidazole moiety and the phenol group are held together by hydrogen bonding between the hydrogen of the phenol and the N3 atom of benzimidazole. Additionally, this hydrogen forms an intramolecular hydrogen bond with one O atom … Show more

“…The strength and nature of the electron donor-acceptor type bonding in the picric acid complexes are dictated by the nature of the partners involved in the bond-formation process. The linkage encompasses electrostatic interactions as well as the formation of the molecular complexes [15].…”

“…Quinolines are reported to be a promising candidate for the use as PhOLEDs (Phosphorescent Organic Light Emitting diodes) [13] with good nonlinear optical properties [14,15]. There has been growing interest in using organic materials for nonlinear optical devices, functioning as second harmonic generators, frequency converters, electrooptical modulators, etc.…”

“…8-Hydroxyquinoline (8-HQ) and its derivatives are well known for their antifungal, antibacterial and antiamoebic activities [2]. It is known that 8-HQ and picric acid have got good non-linear optical (NLO) properties [3,4]. Nonlinear optics (NLO) deals with the interactions of applied electromagnetic fields in various materials to generate new electromagnetic fields, altered in frequency, phase, or other physical properties.…”
