Die Kristallstruktur des Kaliumtrifluorostannat(II)-Hemihydrate, KSnF3.1/2H2O

Abstract: The crystal structure of KSnF3.½H20 has been determined by Patterson and Fourier syntheses. The structure consists of distorted tetragonal pyramids SnF4 with Sn at the top. These pyramids are connected at corners to chains parallel to e. Two channels are formed, one of which is empty and shows small Sn-Sn distances; the second channel is filled with water molecules. Potassium is surrounded by 9 F atoms and one H20.

“…The Sn-F distances within the dimer unit are similar to those in SnF 2 21 or KSnF 3 . 26 The reaction of Me 3 PO with a suspension of SnF 2 in a 2 : 1 or 1 : 1 molar ratio in MeOH resulted in the formation of white powdered [SnF 2 (Me 3 PO)]. Numerous attempts to obtain crystals of this complex were unsuccessful, but the IR and 1 H, 19 F { 1 H} and 31 P{ 1 H} NMR spectroscopic data (Experimental section) are simple and consistent with the expected trigonal pyramidal core.…”

“…4) shows a discrete pyramidal anion with a short interaction with the imidazolium proton (H⋯F = 2.006(2) Å). The structures of several [SnF 3 ] − salts have been reported, including 26,[30][31][32] all contain trigonal pyramidal anions with longer Sn⋯F contacts (∼2.6-2.8 Å) linking the anions into chains or sheets. The bulky [IDiPPH] + cation in the present structure is the first structurally authenticated example of an isolated [SnF 3 ] − group.…”
