“…Additional oestrogen (estradiol valerate or mestranol) or gonadotrophine (HCG) treatment were without convincing effects, confirming tendencies Cycle synchronization in cattle in Tanzania 389 reviewed earlier (Jochle, 1969). The HCG-treatment results also indicate that the two inseminations during the first synchronization period might be wasted.…”

“…The field studies reported here, with herds of different genetic background and representing different levels of advanced management, were initiated in 1968 and extended through 1969 and 1970. When our experiments were begun, there was no published information on synchronization of oestrus in Zebu cattle. Data on synchronization, using various progestins and different routes of application, were reported only from B. taurua (European Beef and Dairy Breed) of the moderate climate belts of the Northern and Southern hemisphere (Jochle, 1969a).…”

“…The aim of our studies was to determine the effect of the progestin Chlormadinono acetate (CAP) on B. indicus for synchronization of the oestrous cycle. Substantial information was available on the synchronizing effect of this compound in B. taurus (Jochle, 1969a;Schmidt, Smidt & Jochle, 1970;Schmidt, Huber, Giinzler, Jochle & Smidt, 1970;Kordts, 1970;Giinzler & Geisler, 1970;Grunert, Frerking & Herrler, 1971).…”
