Abstract: Donor-derived infections continue to occur in spite of standard organ donor screening. These infections can be challenging to diagnose and manage for a treating physician. This article reviews the process of organ donor evaluation, limitations of current screening strategies, approach to recipient evaluation in suspected donor-derived infections, and diagnostic and management strategies of selected donor-derived infections.
