Dexmedetomidine improves acute stress‐induced liver injury in rats by regulating MKP‐1, inhibiting NF‐κB pathway and cell apoptosis

Abstract: Acute stress is a frequent and unpredictable disease for many animals. Stress is widely considered to affect liver function. However, the underlying mechanism by which dexmedetomidine (DEX) attenuates acute stress‐induced liver injury in rats remains unclear. In this study, we used forced swimming for 15 min and acute 3‐hr restraint stress model. Behavioral tests and changes in norepinephrine levels confirmed the successful establishment of the acute stress model. Acute stress‐induced liver injury, evidenced b… Show more

“…MiRNAs can participate in the development of septic AKI. For example, miR‐106a promotes the aggravation of sepsis‐induced AKI in a mouse model by inhibiting THBS2 7 . MiR‐107 stimulates TNF‐α secretion to induce tubular cell injury in sepsis‐induced AKI 8 .…”

“…Stress, commonly occurring in daily life, is a triggering or aggravating factor of many diseases that seriously threaten public health [ 1 ]. Accumulating evidence indicates that acute stress (AS) is deleterious to the body's organs and systems [ 2 , 3 ]. Each year, approximately 1.7 million deaths are attributed to acute injury of the kidney, one of the organs vulnerable to AS [ 4 ].…”

“…Even in the absence of glucocorticoids, restraint stress by itself leads to the induction of Dusp1 expression in the hypothalamic paraventricular nucleus and anterior pituitary of adrenalectomized mice 39 . Treatment with dexmedetomidine attenuates both stress-induced liver injury and Dusp1 overepxression in mice, subjected to acute stress 40 . A similar result, i.e.…”
