The 650–621 Ma plume which impinged beneath the Siberian craton during the breakup of Rodinia caused the formation of several alkaline carbonatite massifs in craton margins of the Angara rift system. The Beloziminsky alkaline ultramafic carbonatite massif (BZM) in the Urik-Iya graben includes alnöites, phlogopite carbonatites and aillikites. The Yuzhnaya pipe (YuP) ~ 645 Ma and the 640–621 Ma aillikites in BZM, dated by 40Ar/39Ar, contain xenoliths of carbonated sulfide-bearing dunites, xenocrysts of olivines, Cr-diopsides, Cr-phlogopites, Cr-spinels (P ~ 4–2 GPa and T ~ 800–1250 °C) and xenocrysts of augites with elevated HFSE, U, Th. Al-augites and kaersutites fractionated from T ~ 1100–700 °C along the 90 mW/m2 geotherm. Higher T trend for Al-Ti augite, pargasites, Ti-biotites series (0.4–1.5 GPa) relate to intermediate magma chambers near the Moho and in the crust. Silicate xenocrysts show Zr-Hf, Ta-Nb peaks and correspond to carbonate-rich magma fractionation that possibly supplied the massif. Aillikites contain olivines, rare Cr-diopsides and oxides. The serpentinites are barren, fragments of ore-bearing Phl carbonatites contain perovskites, Ta-niobates, zircons, thorites, polymetallic sulphides and Ta-Mn-Nb-rich magnetites, ilmenites and Ta-Nb oxides. The aillikites are divided by bulk rock and trace elements into seven groups with varying HFSE and LILE due to different incorporation of carbonatites and related rocks. Apatites and perovskites reveal remarkably high LREE levels. Aillikites were generated by 1%–0.5% melting of the highly metasomatized mantle with ilmenite, perovskite apatite, sulfides and mica, enriched by subduction-related melts and fluids rich in LILE and HFSE. Additional silicate crystal fractionation increased the trace element concentrations. The carbonate-silicate P-bearing magmas may have produced the concentration of the ore components and HFSE in the essentially carbonatitic melts after liquid immiscibility in the final stage. The mechanical enrichment of aillikites in ore and trace element-bearing minerals was due to mixture with captured solid carbonatites after intrusion in the massif.

The Chadobets alkaline ultramafic carbonatite complex is located on the Siberian craton within the southern boundary of the Permian-Triassic plume activity. The dating of xenogenic zircons from the weathering crust of carbonatites of the Chuktukon complex yielded four clusters with ages of 1870-1820, 495-385, 290-210 and 215-162 Ma. The first two clusters correspond to the dates of activity of Paleoproterozoic granitoid magmatism and Paleozoic alkaline-mafic tectono-magmatic activity, widely occurred in the Siberian craton and its southern framing. The age of crystallization of alkaline rocks of the Chadobets complex falls within the interval of 255-240 Ma. Ar-Ar dating of damtjernite and carbonatite minerals of the Chuktukon complex falls within the intervals of 250.5±3.7 and 247.1±5.7 Ma, respectively. The crystallization ages of the mela-aillikites and damtjernites of the Terina complex, according to the Ar-Ar dating, correspond to the intervals of 257.4±3.9, 241.1±3.7, and 240±3.6 Ma. The age interval of 215-162 Ma based on zircons from the carbonatite weathering crust of the Chuktukon complex reflects the geochronology of superimposed processes and indicates the different stages of alteration of igneous rocks of the Chadobets complex. The data obtained on the age of crystallization of alkaline rocks of the Chadobets complex are consistent with the age interval of Siberian plume activity within a large igneous province (LIP).

Rippite K2(Nb,Ti)2(Si4O12)(O,F)2, a new K-Nb-cyclosilicate, has been discovered in calciocarbonatites from the Chuktukon massif (Chadobets upland, SW Siberian Platform, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Russia). It was found in a primary mineral assemblage, which also includes calcite, fluorcalciopyrochlore, tainiolite, fluorapatite, fluorite, Nb-rich rutile, olekminskite, K-feldspar, Fe-Mn–dolomite and quartz. Goethite, francolite (Sr-rich carbonate–fluorapatite) and psilomelane (romanèchite ± hollandite) aggregates as well as barite, monazite-(Ce), parisite-(Ce), synchysite-(Ce) and Sr-Ba-Pb-rich keno-/hydropyrochlore are related to a stage of metasomatic (hydrothermal) alteration of carbonatites. The calcite–dolomite coexistence assumes crystallization temperature near 837 °C for the primary carbonatite paragenesis. Rippite is tetragonal: P4bm, a = 8.73885(16), c = 8.1277(2) Å, V = 620.69(2) Å3, Z = 2. It is closely identical in the structure and cell parameters to synthetic K2Nb2(Si4O12)O2 (or KNbSi2O7). Similar to synthetic phase, the mineral has nonlinear properties. Some optical and physical properties for rippite are: colorless; Mohs’ hardness—4–5; cleavage—(001) very perfect, (100) perfect to distinct; density (meas.)—3.17(2) g/cm3; density (calc.)—3.198 g/cm3; optically uniaxial (+); ω = 1.737-1.739; ε = 1.747 (589 nm). The empirical formula of the holotype rippite (mean of 120 analyses) is K2(Nb1.90Ti0.09Zr0.01)[Si4O12](O1.78OH0.12F0.10). Majority of rippite prismatic crystals are weakly zoned and show Ti-poor composition K2(Nb1.93Ti0.05Zr0.02)[Si4O12](O1.93F0.07). Raman and IR spectroscopy, and SIMS data indicate very low H2O content (0.09–0.23 wt %). Some grains may contain an outermost zone, which is enriched in Ti (+Zr) and F, up to K2(Nb1.67Ti0.32Zr0.01)[Si4O12](O1.67F0.33). It strongly suggests the incorporation of (Ti,Zr) and F in the structure of rippite via the isomorphism Nb5+ + O2− → (Ti,Zr)4+ + F1−. The content of a hypothetical end-member K2Ti2[Si4O12]F2 may be up to 17 mol. %. Rippite represents a new structural type among [Si4O12]-cyclosilicates because of specific type of connection of the octahedral chains and [Si4O12]8− rings. In structural and chemical aspects it seems to be in close with the labuntsovite-supergroup minerals, namely with vuoriyarvite-(K), K2(Nb,Ti)2(Si4O12)(O,OH)2∙4H2O.
