Development, validation and application of a gas chromatography method for the determination of dillapiole from Piper aduncum essential oil in skin permeation samples

Abstract: The essential oil extracted from the leaves of Piper aduncum has antifungal, insecticidal and antibacterial activity. Studies with its main compound, dillapiole (DIL) revealed antibacterial and anti‐inflammatory potential. Despite all this bioactivity, there is no updated report on the development and validation of analytical and bioanalytical methodology to quantify DIL in skin samples. A selective, precise, accurate and adequate method for the determination of DIL in solutions, porcine ear skin samples and r… Show more

“…The solutions were stored appropriately in vials under refrigeration until use. The analysis of the MPP was carried out using the headspace procedure [31] under optimized conditions and with a 1 mL syringe. Extraction was performed with a 10 mL vial sealed with a septa and screw cap, at 150 • C and agitation, for 10 min, with 100 µL of the reference or sample solution.…”

“…In the chromatographic and spectrometric analyses [31,32], diluted MPP (preparation described in Section 2.5.1) was analyzed using a gas chromatograph (2010 GC, Shimadzu, Kyoto, Japan) equipped with a mass spectrometer. The injection was carried out in splitless mode.…”
