Development of the Multilayer Alternately Poled Piezoelectric Transformers

Abstract: The structure of piezoelectric transformers were studied to enlarge the output power capacity. The power parameter m A 2 2 was proposed to predict the performance of the high-power piezoelectric transformers. In a former report, we proposed a new-structure piezoelectric transformer named alternately poled piezoelectric transformer (APT). Its step-up ratio was twice as large as that of the Rosen type transformer, in spite of the single layer … Show more

“…In addition to the conventional applications such as ballast for back light inverter in notebook computers, camera flash, and fuel ignition, several new applications have emerged such as AC/DC converter, power supply for displays, image intensifiers, and automobile lighting. Several transformer designs have been proposed to meet the specifications in multifunctional applications [8][9][10][11].…”

“…Up to now, MPT materials with high mechanical quality factor, high piezoelectric constant, high electromechanical coupling factor, low dielectric loss, and low firing temperature have been investigated intensively. [7][8][9] However, there are few reports on fabrication of new types of MPT with favorable performance.…”
