Development of RT-PCR Based Diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2

Abstract: In the 2020, COVID-19 pandemic disease created an havoc situation world widely and mainly caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2). It has been challenging task for researchers, scientists and medico-pharmaceutical organisations to find out rapid and reliable diagnosis methods. Among the all testing services, a Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) is the more accurate, rapid and authenticated molecular technique used for most of the diagnosis of major diseases.… Show more

“…In addition, the RT-PCR results may be influenced by the type of collected specimen, the clinical symptoms of the patient and the period of time between sampling and the onset of symptoms [24,25]. Regarding nested PCR, whether conventional or real-time, cross-contamination of the samples was outlined as a drawback [26]. However, we deem that when the aseptic working principles in a virology laboratory are observed, the risk of contamination is minimized.…”

“…Related to the reproduction of genetic material, there is a statement dealing with the diagnosis of COVID-19. An accurate way of diagnosing someone infected by COVID-19 is by using RT-PCR (Patankar & Zambare, 2021;Torretta et al, 2021). The RT-PCR identifies the presence of nucleic acid sequences possessed by certain living things or viruses to determine their presence (Kralik & Ricchi, 2017;Zauli, 2020).…”

“…Studying the genes of the SARS-CoV-2, scientists were able to determine the function of each of these genes (Naqvi et al, 2020). They were also capable of designing primers and RT-PCR procedures to diagnose suspected COVID-19 patients (Patankar & Zambare, 2021;Torretta et al, 2021). Together with several pharmaceutical companies, scientists are also developing vaccines based on the SARS-CoV-2 genetic code (Borah et al, 2021).…”
