Development of multifunctional polyurethane elastomer composites containing fullerene: Mechanical, damping, thermal, and flammability behaviors

Abstract: Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) composites filled with fullerene in the range from 0.5 wt% to 2 wt% were fabricated using melt-compounding. Fullerene addition levels up to nearly twofold increase in tensile strength, percent elongation, and modulus of TPU. The mechanical properties are improved as modified C 60 content decreases. Fullerene loadings also enhance thermal stability of TPU. Glass transition temperature decreases by the inclusion of C 60 into TPU matrix. Composites exhibited the improvement for st… Show more

“…According to figure 3, PER additions caused decrease for storage modulus of unfilled ABS. 15% PER containing composite yield nearly identical storage modulus value with that of ABS due to restriction effect of PER particles on segmental mobility of ABS chains [41][42][43].…”

“…BF addition leads the storage modulus of PLA to higher values due to restriction of chain motions of polymer matrix. [46][47][48] Investigation of relatively lower storage modulus of FF containing PLA composites may be related to the deterioration of FF at higher temperatures. 49,50 According to Figure 4, inclusions of BF at higher compositions cause an increase in the peak value of tan d. Tan d curve of PLA becomes broadened with the amount of FF increases.…”

“…The bands at 2950 to 2908 cm −1 and 1426 to 1333 cm −1 represented the CH stretching and the CH 2 deformation band in the neat PVC, respectively. [ 7,23,24 ] The band of the CH rocking in the neat PVC were observed in the 1254 cm −1 . [ 24,25 ] For neat PVC, trans CH wagging band could be observed at 957 cm −1 .…”
