Development of Indirect Competitive Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay to Detect Fusarium verticillioides in Poultry Feed Samples

Abstract: Fumonisins are a group of toxic secondary metabolites that are produced by Fusarium verticillioides which are associated with poultry health hazard and great economic losses. The objective of the present study was to develop an immunological method to detect F. verticillioides in poultry feed samples. An indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ic-ELISA) based on a polyclonal antibody against 67 kDa protein of the F. verticillioides 97K exoantigen was developed to detect this fungus. Antibody an… Show more

“…Quantitative PCR (qPCR), which reveals the amount of DNA of one or a group of closely related microorganisms is quite popular in plant pathological research [15,16,17]. Another indirect method for assessing the toxicity of grain is the immunochemical discovery of antigens (EIA) that are produced by fungi during their vital activity [18,19,20,21].…”

“…Indirect competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ic-ELISA) is an ideal immunoassay method for large-scale screening to detect mycotoxin contaminants [11][12][13]. However, the matrix effect that occurs with complicated samples has always been a challenge, in which ic-ELISA results in false-positive or negative results [14].…”
