Development of Environment-Friendly Membrane for Oily Industrial Wastewater Filtration

Abstract: Latex phase blending and crosslinking method was used in this research work to produce nitrile butadiene rubber-graphene oxide (NBR-GO) membranes. This fabrication technique is new and yields environmentally friendly membranes for oil-water separation. GO loading was varied from 0.5 to 2.0 part per hundred-part rubber (pphr) to study its effect on the performance of NBR-GO membrane. GO was found to alter the surface morphology of the NBR matrix by introducing creases and fold on its surface, which then increas… Show more

“…Conversely, smaller particles with low po-rosity lead to the reverse. Therefore, for a speci c water quality, meticulous gradation experiments are necessary to determine the appropriate lter media gradation and porosity [21]. With arti cial preparation of raw water and addition of clay in tap water, the removal rates of SS for each stage, COD removal rates, oil removal rates, etc., were measured.…”

“…Bicy et al [148] investigated the interfacial tuning and designer morphologies of microporous membranes made from nanocomposites of polypropylene and natural rubber. Alquraish et al [149] use the latex phase blending and crosslinking technique to make nitrile butadiene rubbergraphene oxide (NBR-GO) membranes. This new way of membrane fabrication is good for the environment and makes membranes that separate oil and water.…”
