Development Ischemic Stroke Model by Right Unilateral Common Carotid Artery Occlusion (RUCCAO) Method

Abstract: This study was designed to examine motor and congnitive changes, infarct lesion and neurohistological changes, involving histologic staining and immunohistochemical expression of caspase-3 after induction by right unilateral common carotid artery occlusion (RUCCAO) for 90 minutes. The animals were divided into two groups: sham group and stroke model group. Cognitive impairment was evaluated by Y maze. Motor function was measured on days 0, 1, 3 and 7 using FUAT paradigm. Infarct area, histological and caspase-… Show more

“…In this study there was an increase of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) levels in the synovium fluid. The effects of BMSCs on cartilage improvement are derived from inhibition of catabolic effects and stimulation of anabolic effects through cytokine mediators 14 .…”

“…All of the above therapies do not produce enough hyaline cartilage tissue; thus, it continues on tissue engineering to develop strategies for cartilage repair and regeneration with biomechanical characteristics, biological compositions, and the same organization as the original articular cartilage. Trias engineering network consists of 3 components, namely cell, signal, and scaffold 4 .…”

“…In general, strokes are classified into two types, as hemorrhagic stroke or ischemic stroke. Hemorrhagic stroke is caused by an increase in acute blood pressure, or by other diseases that cause weak blood vessels [3]. Meanwhile, ischemic stroke is caused by a blockage of the arteries due to emboli, or by atherosclerosis in the blood vessels of the brain [3].…”

“…Blockage of the arteries is called infarction. In ischemic stroke, cerebral infarction is the more common condition, and is the death of brain cells due to prolonged ischemia [3].…”
