Development and Validation of the Strengths Self-Efficacy Scale (SSES)

Abstract: The Strengths Self-Efficacy scale (SSES) was developed to allow career counselors, educators, and researchers to assess individuals' perceived abilities to build their personal strengths and apply them in their daily life. An exploratory factor analysis was conducted with 275 adults and resulted in one factor: general strengths self-efficacy. The internal consistency was .96 and SSES was weakly related to social desirability. A confirmatory factor analysis was performed using another sample of 302 adults, and … Show more

“…The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) index was 0.80, demonstrating that the sample is suitable for factor analysis. Also, Bartlett's test of sphericity was found to be significant (p < 0.001), indicating that the item correlation matrix is not an identity matrix, and the sample is appropriate for factor analysis (Tsai et al, 2014). Exploratory factor analysis resulted in two factors (subordinate-focused SBL and supervisor-focused SBL) with eigenvalues above 1, explaining 70.05% of the total variance in SBL.…”

“…The primary clinical objective is to assess the acceptability and usability of the mHealthApp and its impact on perceived self-efficacy and satisfaction with care from the perspective of the survivor. To evaluate the primary objective, two validated tools measuring self-efficacy can be utilized, Communication and Attitudinal Self-Efficacy scale for cancer (CASE-cancer) [ 23 ] and Strengths Self-Efficacy Scale (SSES) [ 24 ]. CASE-cancer was chosen since self-efficacy has been shown to be a protective effect for survivors who have higher perceived risk of recurrence [ 25 – 27 ].…”

“…Pozitif psikolojiyle belirgin hale gelen güçlü yönler öznel zindelik, tutku ve motivasyonu harmanlayarak akademik başarı ve iş performansında önemli etkiye sahiptir (Biswas-Diener, 2010;Dubreuil, Forest ve Courcy, 2014). Bireyin yetenek, bilgi ve becerisini kullanarak ortaya koyduğu performans, bireyin kendine yönelik inanç ve güveninin eyleme koyulmuş halidir (Tsai, Chaichanasakul, Zhao, Flores ve Lopez, 2014). Albert Bandura'nın Sosyal Öğrenme Kuramı'nda önemini vurguladığı öz-yeterlilik (Bıkmaz, 2004;Ekici, 2009;Schunk ve Pajares, 2010;Senemoğlu, 2009), bireyin özüne ilişkin pozitif kavramlardan bir diğeridir.…”
