Development and Validation of HPLC Method for the Simultaneous Determination of Enalapril Maleate in Present of Their Impurities: Application to Tablet Analysis

Abstract: Objective: A simple, rapid, economical, and highly sensitive stability-indicating HPLC method was developed and fully validated for determination of enalapril maleate in presence of its related substances namely enalaprilat dihydrate and diketopiperazine. Methods: Chromatographic separation was achieved on Grace Platinumр C8 EPS column (4.6 mm i.d. X 250 mm, 5 μm) at room temperature. The mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile: 20 mmol phosphate buffer adjusted to pH 2.2 (25:75 v/v) isocratically pumped at a fl… Show more

“…In the present study, optimization and critical evaluation of mobile phase composition (gradient), flow rate, and analytical column were important to obtain good resolution of peaks of interest from the endogenous components, which, in turn, affect reproducibility and sensitivity of the method [4][5][6]. The resolution of peaks was best achieved with Discovery C18, 50×2.…”

“…Our objеctivе of the chromatоgraphіc method develоpment wаs to achiеve a peak tailing factor <1.5, retention time in between 1 and 3 min, along with gооd resоlution. [9][10][11] Ascentis express columns, based on Fusеd-core pаrticle technоlogy, prоvide more than twice the speed and efficiency of traditiоnal cоlumns at half the backpressure of sub-2-µm columns. This objеctive was obtainеd using mobile phase consisting of methanol and 0.1% solution of trifluoroacetic acid (40/60, v/v).…”
