Development and Characterization of Nickel‐NTA‐Polyaniline Modified Electrodes

Abstract: The engineered addition of hexa-histidine sequences to biomolecules such as antibody fragments has been found to be an excellent means of purifying these materials. This tagging methodology has also been extended to its use as a tool for immobilization and orientation of antibodies on transducer surfaces. Polyvinyl sulfonate-doped polyanilne (PANI/ PVS) can be used as a mediator in amperometric biosensors. This short communication looks at the effect of nickel chelate materials and nickel chelation on this con… Show more

“…Single stranded DNA has been immobilized on self-assembling polymer based on polyallyamine modified with thioctic acid for hybridization assays [ 134 ]. Lori et al has developed a conducting polymer surface by doping N -nitriloacetic acid (NTA) into the electropolymerized polyvinylsulphonate doped polyaniline (PANI/PVS) at a screen printed carbon electrode for the immobilization of his -tagged biomolecules [ 135 ]. The resulting NTA-PANI-/PVS film was shown to have interesting electrochemical properties.…”

“…In addition, the catalytic site of the enzyme can also be blocked by these uncontrolled immobilization methods. More recently, NTA was efficiently doped into an electropolymerized polyanilinepoly(vinyl sulphonate) film without alteration of its electronic properties of conducting polymer (Lori et al 2006). In addition, the resulting polymer was able to coordinate Ni(II) and hence may be an attractive platform for the future development of immunosensors based on an impedimetric or conductimetric transduction.…”
