We are analyzed and described the principal's leadership style as determinant of his behavior in providing instructional supervision. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research was conducted on representatives of three elementary schools in Minahasa Regency, North Tondano District. Determination of informants in extracting data from informants of this study was carried out by snowball sampling. Data collection techniques in this study were carried out by observation and interviews. To ensure the validity of the data, triangulation was carried out across time and methods. Data analysis was carried out in inductive narrative by following the steps of qualitative analysis proposed by Miles and Huberman: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of the study can be concluded that the leadership characteristics possessed by the principal affect almost all areas of work carried out by principal. Leadership style is closely related to his behavior in providing supervision to teachers. Supervision is a concrete example that directly shows the form of relationship or interaction that can be observed from the activities carrying out the duties of the principal which indicates his leadership style. Teacher wants the principal to understand the problem well, listen to the teacher carefully, and provide psychological comfort with warm communication. It is suggested to principal to improve leadership skills to understand each teacher and adjust the leadership style to the characteristics of the teacher. Effective communication is the key to understanding the teacher's situation and building a conducive supervision climate.
AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan gaya kepemimpinan kepala sekolah sebagai faktor determinan perilakukannya dalam memberikan supervise instruksional. enelitian dilakukan dengan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Penelitian dilaksanakan terhadap perwakilan tiga sekolah dasar di Kabupaten Minahasa Kecamatan Tondano Utara. Guru dan kepala sekolah ditetapkan sebagai informan dalam penelitian ini. Penetapan informan dalam penggalian data dari informan penelitian ini dilakukan dengan Teknik snowball sampling. Wawancara dan observasi digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data terkait dengan gaya kepemimpinan dan supervise instruksional yang dilakukan kepala sekolah. Triangulasi lintas waktu dan metode dilakukan untuk memastikan data yang diperoleh valid dan konsisten. Wawancara dan observasi dilakukan secara random untuk mengkonformasi keabsahan data yang diperoleh. Analisis data dilakukan secara induktif naratif dengan Analisis kualitatif dilakukan dengan mengacu pada tahapan analisis data kualitatif yang diperkenalkan oleh Miles dan Huberman, yaitu: data reduction, data display, dan conclusion.
