Developing a security protocol for a distributed decision support system in a healthcare environment

Abstract: In this paper, we describe the unique security issues involved in healthcare domains. These have been addressed to the needs of the HealthAgents project. In the proposed approach, several levels of security have been provided in accordance with Software Engineering principles, ethical regulations for healthcare data, as well as the security requirements usually raised from the distributed clinical settings. The result is the production of a secure and maintainable Multi-Agent System that enables secure communi… Show more

“…The system's individual recommendation is attributed to access the flow data. According to Xiao et al (2008), multiplex database system always gears up, so we must elaborate the system environment and structure. With regard to that issue, the important task is to create the Administrator subsystem, which leads to simplicity and integration of administration and author's subsystems to one application.…”

“…Clinicians will employ classifiers which assist in the diagnosis of patients for particular tumours. The HealthAgents system consists of a variety of agents each charged with a different task (see [7] for more detailed description of the HealthAgents components and architecture). Figure 3 shows the interaction model where a patient case is first retrieved, then relevant classifiers invoked, case classification performed and finally, the diagnosis results updated as well as the ranking of involved classifiers.…”

“…Additional local policy rules must also be satisfied to accommodate necessary constraints. A generic policy rule schema is described in [7] for this purpose. The following shows the LCC constraints used by the database agent, being a resource manager, for permission checking before the actual role functions are carried out.…”
