Determination of Tractor Engine Oil Change Interval Based on Material Properties

Abstract: This article focuses on the issue of motor oils used in the engines of non-road mobile machinery (NRMM), more specifically tractors. The primary goal of the paper is to determine the appropriate replacement interval for these oils. The physical properties of the examined samples were first determined by conventional instruments. Furthermore, the concentrations of abrasive metals, contaminants, and additive elements were measured using an optical emission spectrometer. Lastly, the content of water, fuel, and gl… Show more

“…Dilution of engine oil is otherwise dangerous due to the low “viscosity reserve” of modern engine oils. Portions with a boiling point above 200 °C would not evaporate even in a hot engine, they remain in the form of droplets which only partially burn, a part is ejected into the cylinder wall by a vortex in the combustion chamber and subsequently dissolves in the motor oil layer to reduce the oil’s viscosity [ 30 ].…”

“…The average iron content in intercity buses was 94 ppm and was 52% higher than in buses operating in the city (the average in the group was 45 ppm). Copper in the engine is used, among others, in rings and bushings, while iron, as the main structural element in the engine, is used in cylinder liners, the crankshaft, rolling bearings and valves [30]. When comparing two intervals in both intercity buses, a high content of iron and copper was observed in their first intervals from a new status, which in this case indicated the process of the running-in of these engine components.…”

“…This convergence has led to the spread of the sharing economy in various sectors (Schor et al, 2016;Griggio and Oxenswärdh, 2021). Various sharing economy initiatives have emerged worldwide, encompassing sectors such as accommodation, utilities, automobiles, and others (Martin, 2016;Hönig et al, 2020). The concept of sharing is familiar, as human exchange is a long-standing reflection of social relations and the consolidation of cultural traditions (Hati et al, 2021).…”
