A large a luminum ion ization chamber has been calibrated atthe United States Nationa Bureau of Standards to d etermin e t he total a mount of energy transpor ted by a bremss trahlung beam. T his chamber was carried to Europe and used to transfer this absolute cali brat ion to simila r io nization chambers in betatron la boratories in France, Western Germ any, Switzerland, and Yugoslavia. The t r ansfers were made by direct experimental co mpa rison o f the chamber sensitivities in t he betatron X-ray beams in t hese laboratories. The t ransferred calibrations were corrected for differences in X-ray beam size and filtration.

A thick walled ionization chamber, which is a replica of that described by Pruitt and Domen (1962), was used to measure the integrated y-ray flux producing the spectra. Photons of less than 32 MeV energy excite states in 12 0 which decay almost exclusively by proton emission to the ground state of HB (Hayward 1963).…”

SummaryProton spectra from the 12C(y, po)l1B reaction have been obtained at angles of 30°, 50°, 70°, 90°, 110°, 130°, and 150° using semiconductor detector telescopes. From these spectra the angular distribution of the 12C(y, po)l1B reaction has been determined every 250 ke V throughout the excitation energy region between 20 and 27 MeV. The observed energy dependence of the angular distribution is compared with that expected from the collective correlations model description of 12C.

“…The pair spectrometer measurements [19] are not absolute, and were normalized to a weighted average of the NBS calorimeter and spectrometer calibrations at 170 M ev. The NBS spectrometer calibrations and the Franldurt calibration have b een corrected for differences in beam diameter and filtration [16] . No such corrections have been applied to the other points, but they are probably quite small compared to the uncertainties in these points.…”
