Determination of Fungicide Kresoxim-Methyl Residues in Cucumber and Soil by Capillary Gas Chromatography with Nitrogen-Phosphorus Detection

Abstract: The method of residue analysis of kresoxim-methyl and its dissipation rate in cucumber and soil in a greenhouse were studied. Residues of kresoxim-methyl were extracted from cucumber and soil matrices with acetone, purified by liquid-liquid extraction and Florisil cartridges, and then determined by GC with NP-detector. The limit of detection was estimated to be 9 x 10-12 g, and the minimum determination concentration of kresoxim-methyl in the samples was 0.005 mg kg-1. The average recoveries ranged from 89.4 t… Show more

“…1(B) and Table 2). In cucumber, different values of t 1/2 for kresoxim‐methyl have been obtained by other authors 16. Comparing kresoxim‐methyl and azoxystrobin, both fungicides presented similar dissipation rates which can be attributed to both fungicides being structurally similar (Table 1).…”

“…Azoxystrobin and kresoxim‐methyl are two substances actually permitted in Spain for the control of powdery mildew in greenhouses pepper crops 12. Studies on the dissipation behaviour of these fungicides on grapes, strawberries, cucumbers and tomatoes are reported in the literature13–17 while, to our knowledge, no study has been carried out on peppers.…”

“…This method gave recoveries ranging from 72 to 105% with relative standard deviations lower than 15% for the pesticides studied. Li et al (2006) studied a method of residue analysis of kresoxim-methyl and its dissipation rate in cucumber and soil in a To enhance the detection of different organic contaminants in Nathan Creek, British Columbia, a study on a new approach to surface water analysis was conducted (Furtula et al, 2006). Water samples from Nathan Creek were prepared by liquid/liquid extraction and analyzed by gas chromatography mass spectrometry method in scan mode (GC-MS scan).…”

“…Kresoxim-methyl(methyl(E)-2-(methoxyimino)-2-[2-( o -tolyloxymethyl)phenyl]acetate), a strobilurin fungicide, is used to control powdery mildew and scab in apples, pears, grapes, cucumbers, strawberries, and vegetables [1] . The mode of action of strobilurins is to inhibit mitochondrial respiration by binding to the ubihydroquinone oxidation center of the mitochondrial bc1 complex and thereby blocking electron transfer [2,3] .…”
