One of indicators in quality improvement in private college was student's satisfaction. Whether or not student satisfies to the college, complaints box can be uses as a tool of it. The purpose of this study was to report the student complaints box that has been used as a tool of quality improvement in Institute of Health Science (IHS) Faletehan, Indonesia. The student complaints from December 2014 to October 2016 have been gathered. All complaints were written by student in a blank of submission form with the requirement of student number as identity (ID). Total of 250 complaints were collected and were investigated by a single trained staff member of the Quality Assurance (QA) Department of IHS Faletehan, who reviewed statements related to the complaints. Each complaint was classified as operational, educational, and student service-related. In analyzing process, data were re-written and were analyzed by using QDA Miner Lite. Here we present the total 250 complaints of student that addressed on the individual, unit and organizational levels. This study showed that the sustainable of quality improvement in IHS Faletehan is effective through complaints box.

Underperforming tenured teachers through the eyes of school leaders. An exploratory, qualitative study of their views on underperformance, actions and perceived obstaclesThe performance of teachers largely determines the quality of schools. However, research shows that teachers’ underperformance is not always (adequately) addressed by school leaders. The legal protection of tenured teachers is frequently mentioned as an important obstacle. To obtain more insight in how Flemish primary school leaders deal with underperforming tenured teachers, we interviewed 14 school leaders about their views on teacher underperformance, the actions they take with tenured teachers and the obstacles they come across. The results show that school leaders describe underperformance as a prolonged failing towards students, the team and the school. Causes of underperformance are found in teachers’ attitudinal problems, physical and psychological problems, lack of expertise and lacking professional growth. School leaders adopt a phased and differentiated approach. At first, they offer help and support. If necessary, they proceed to confrontation and try to put pressure on the teacher. Underperforming teachers are also being moved to other positions within and outside the school and sometimes their workload is temporarily alleviated. Furthermore, school leaders are prepared to give them negative evaluations. Yet, for underperforming tenured teachers, they do not believe in the possibility of official sanctions and dismissal. Other obstacles in dealing with tenured underperformers include emotional and relational obstacles, time constraints, limited competencies of school leaders, a negative school climate, a lack of clear evaluation criteria and denial by the teacher. We conclude that school leaders need more support and training to adequately deal with underperforming tenured teachers and discuss the implications of our findings for follow-up research and practice.

The performance of a teacher can be influenced by several factors. Among the factors that can affect teacher performance are the leadership of the principal, the competence of the teacher himself, and the teacher's motivation in carrying out his duties. This study aims to analyze whether there is a significant influence between the principal's leadership, competence, and motivation on teacher performance either simultaneously or partially. The design of this research is quantitative with ex post facto design. This study is looking for systematic empirical data and in this study the researcher cannot directly control the independent variables because the events have occurred and according to their nature cannot be manipulated. The population in this study were high school teachers in Mamasa district, data collection using instruments. Data analysis used multiple linear regression with the help of a computer program SPSS 22.00 for Windows. The results of the study simultaneously show that the principal's leadership, competence, and motivation affect teacher performance. Partially, the competence possessed by teachers has an effect on teacher performance, but the principal's leadership and motivation have no effect on teacher performance. Therefore, to improve performance, teachers should increase their competence, one of the ways is by continuing their education to a higher level. On the other hand, the principal must apply an effective leadership style and always motivate teachers to always develop their competence.
