Detection of Testicular Ultrasonographic Lesions in Severe Male Infertility

Abstract: Of 560 infertile patients 8 (1.4%) showed focal testicular lesions, 2 (0.4%) were diagnosed with germ cell tumors and 3 (0.5%) with interstitial cell neoplasms. The malignant tumors were both palpable and in 2 of 3 cases Leydig cell tumors were diagnosed only with ultrasonography.

These two conditions share important causative factors such as age, parenthood, and poor semen parameters (37)(38)(39).…”

“…Several recent reports demonstrate that testicular cancers and infertility are related (3)(4)(5). Most of these reports suggest that an increased incidence of testicular cancers occurs in patients with abnormal semen characteristics; however, they were unable to determine whether there was a link between a history of poor semen count and subsequent development of testicular cancers.…”

The present study aims to address this issue by conducting a review of all male patients with poor semen count who visited our institute with complaints of infertility.…”
