Detection of Packet Dropping Nodes in MANET using DSR Routing Protocol

Abstract: Wireless network is a growing technology that facilitates users for sharing of information instantly through wireless electronic devices irrespective of their locations. It can be infrastructure based or infrastructure less (ad hoc networks). An ad hoc network gains more attention because of its convenience, mobility, scalability, cost and easy setup. It is best suitable for applications, where predefined infrastructure is not possible. But ad hoc network is vulnerable to various attacks due to its functionali… Show more

“…Most of existing approaches use the watchdog mechanism to rate neighbors' behavior. [8][9][10] In this mechanism, each node overhears the wireless channel to check that each of its neighbors correctly forwards the packets the node transmitted to it. 11 In Autonomic Trust Monitoring Scheme (ATMS), 12 nodes calculate the local trust of a neighbor as the ratio of forwarded to generated packets by that neighbor.…”

“…Clustering Topology in TEEN2.3.5 Adaptive Periodic Threshold Sensitive Energy Efficient Sensor Network Protocol (APTEEN)APTEEN[4] is an advancement of TEEN protocol to overcome its shortcomings and aims for capturing both periodic as well as time critical data. Thus, it is a hybrid protocol that allows nodes to send their sensed data periodically and react to any sudden change in the value sensed value.…”
