“…Electrophoresis on starch block followed the method of Kunkel (1954), and in starch gel the method of Smithies (1955) using either the discontinuous buffer system (Poulik, 1957) or a phosphate buffer system . The haemoglobin zones in starch gel were detected with o-dianisidine (Owen et al, 1958). After separation of the haemoglobin zones on starch block the appropriate zone was cut out and the haemoglobin eluted from the starch with 0.02M sodium chloride.…”
